The Slowear store is mainly devoted to the company’s four brands: Incotex, for pants; Zanone, for knits; Montedoro, for outerwear; and Glanshirt, for shirts. In the store, all the brands are sprinkled together, in comforting but sometimes unlikely combinations, ones that force consideration.

I have been a big fan of the regular My Father cigars, but never gave the Le Bijou line a chance until now. My local B&M, Habana House in Austin, had just gotten a new shipment of these in months ago and were recommended for me to try out by Abdul, the manager of Habana House. I obliged due to the fact that the new Le Bijou was in my favorite vitola, a petit or short robusto.

The first Cobra Daytona Coupe was always something of a mystery ever since it dropped out of sight in the early 1970s. This is made possible through the generosity of many Shelby owners and collectors. Many of the cars in the collection are still raced and shown in concours around the world. This is not a car as we know it. Yes, you can drive it—or it can drive for you during your 15-second catnap. It will perfume the air you breathe and draw the shades if the sun is too bright. It can recline your seat, clear the space ahead, and deploy an ottoman. Approach the car and it’ll roll out what BMW calls a “Light Carpet,” an LED-projected runway welcoming you. It’ll remind you of speed limits, but wouldn’t dare suggest you obey them.
Now that we are going into the holiday season, I want to take this time to think about not only the things we have done, but what we are looking to do in the future at the start of the new year.
First off, I want to say thank you to Samantha Alston, Gillian Goldberg, Thomas Bosick, Surya Singh and Richard Beaumont at LVMH for partnering with us for an amazing launch at the Louis Vuitton Soho Store. Our clients had such a wonderful evening. They shopped, networked and drank Dom Perignon P2 all night. I also want to thank Elite Traveler and Air Partner for inviting their clients and enjoying this launch event with us.
Now on to the holidays! If you are reading this, that means you are part of the world of consumption and luxury. It doesn’t mean you don’t understand what giving is but we tend to do giving at a very different level than most other people. When it is about gifting, it is about getting the right brand and whether it is a Mercedes Benz, a Gulfstream G5, a case of Bordeaux , diamonds from Harry Winston or fur at J. Mendel. I have learned from my business partner John, who everyone knows is a very practical person when it comes to spending money. Maybe he is right, maybe it is about being practical. Doing something for someone where the thought process is the major part of the gift and doing something for someone where you truly believe it is something they want and may not have thought about for themselves. The art of giving is getting to know the person you are giving the gift to.
I could name all of the luxury stores I shop at, but I think I would rather name the people and companies who are trying to do something to make things better for everyone around the world. Companies and charities such as Charity: Water, New York Restoration Project, amfAR, The Robin Hood Foundation and Susan G. Komen for the Cure are just a few of the ones on my list. One of the things last month that impressed me the most was a dinner I attended with someone I have known for quite sometime, Robert Caruso. Robert’s company, Impact Republic, wants to show our industry how to take your brand and make it something positive to impact the world around you. Social media can help everyone if done the right way. Impact Republic is on the right track to making people realize this right in their own backyard. These are the companies and charities that I personally feel are initiatives to do something very great. Although I love the holidays, at the end of the day it has to be something very different than the commercialization on which we’ve grown to base it on.
I want everyone to understand that there is nothing wrong with making people’s dreams come true because it is M Level’s job to make sure that this happens. I just want people to see that there are other parts of luxury like spending time with friends, family and the people you care about. I hope everyone has an amazing holiday and I look forward to having a great year in 2016.
